Le Boban I Marko Markovic Orkestar est le brass band des brass bands. Ils sont les rois chez eux, et ne participent plus au concours de brass band parce que ce serait injuste pour les autres. Emir Kusturica, et oui, lui, a utilisé leur musique pour ses films gitans. Si vous avez une blonde, un chum ou des amis français ou altermondialistes qui écoutent ses trames sonores à la journée longue avec du Gotan Project et La Rue Kétanou, amenez les voir ce groupe là. Même ceux qui ne sont pas capable d'entendre une note de Manu Chao devraient s'y intéresser. C'est le vrai stock. De la bière, des accolades entre hommes, un gros party gitan comme on les aime!

The Pomme-Pomme Craft fair is at least a week's worth of fun compressed into two days at La Sala Rossa. It is a craft and zine fair brought to you by Drawn and Quarterly (click here for more info) and Atelier Woodenapples (click here for more on them). Saturday the festivities run from 10:00am-4:00pm and on Sunday starting at 12:00pm. As if this weren't enough excitement, on Sunday after the fair you can see performances by Shapes and Sizes, Elfin Saddle, and Brave Radar. Cool.

We are excited to announce an incredible show as one of the highlights of the 7^th edition of the Pop Montreal International Music Festival featuring legendary songwriter and hit-maker Burt Bacharach. The show will take place on Friday October 3^rd at the magnificent St-Jean-Baptiste Church.

Six decades into one of songwriting’s most successful and honored careers – marked by 48 Top 10 hits (including; Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Walk On By, Alfie, What The World Needs Now), nine #1 songs, more than 500 compositions and a landmark 50+-year run on the charts, Burt Bacharach’s music continues to set industry records and creative standards. “At This Time”, his 2005 album, which won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album, broke new ground with Bacharach’s first-ever lyrical collaborations, supplementing the melodies which reflect the pioneering Bacharach sound. He says it is the “most-passionate album” of his career as “At This Time” marked the first time Bacharach took on social and political issues in his music.

Bacharach’s global audiences span several generations, and he is viewed as the unique combination of one of the greatest composers of all time and the ultra-cool cult hero of the contemporary music set who often has several songs on various music charts in many countries simultaneously. His many concerts are SRO, as he tours the United States and the world conducting orchestras and with his own musicians and singers performing his music. He began 2008 with a tour of Australia and Japan, and is booked at many of the United States' most-popular venues through the next two years.

"The Greasy Goose Salon is a monthly community lecture series in Montreal's Mile End that aims to provide a forum for people to present their work in a friendly, community-minded atmosphere. The Pop Montreal International Music Festival is proud to present the 2nd POP OFF tour of 2008 . The tour is a great way to show the community and artistic spirit that is alive and well within the Montreal underground. We thought there was no better way to do this than to take a group of bands that are all intimately connected (all 4 bands will share members) and put them on the road to spread the happy vibes. First up is the Luyas who are Jessie Stein, Pietro Amato and Stef Schneider. Three awesome musicians who together create hypnotic and ethereal pop gems. For some shows Adam & the Amethysts will open. Adam is Adam Waito and The Amethysts are a rotating cast of characters who help give life to Amethyst Amulet an album critics are calling “the hit of the summer”. Following The Luyas or the Amethysts is the psychedelic Pop bliss of the sensational Miracle Fortress. Miracle Fortress is the brainchild of Graham Van Pelt, but the live configuration now includes Stein, Waito and Nathan Ward. To end things off we bring you the explosive and electrifying Think About Life, where Van Pelt will be joined by musical renegades Martin Cesar and Matt Shane to bring you the greatest dance party imaginable.
