Adam & The Amethysts
The Pop Montreal International Music Festival is proud to present the 2nd POP OFF tour of 2008 . The tour is a great way to show the community and artistic spirit that is alive and well within the Montreal underground. We thought there was no better way to do this than to take a group of bands that are all intimately connected (all 4 bands will share members) and put them on the road to spread the happy vibes. First up is the Luyas who are Jessie Stein, Pietro Amato and Stef Schneider. Three awesome musicians who together create hypnotic and ethereal pop gems. For some shows Adam & the Amethysts will open. Adam is Adam Waito and The Amethysts are a rotating cast of characters who help give life to Amethyst Amulet an album critics are calling “the hit of the summer”. Following The Luyas or the Amethysts is the psychedelic Pop bliss of the sensational Miracle Fortress. Miracle Fortress is the brainchild of Graham Van Pelt, but the live configuration now includes Stein, Waito and Nathan Ward. To end things off we bring you the explosive and electrifying Think About Life, where Van Pelt will be joined by musical renegades Martin Cesar and Matt Shane to bring you the greatest dance party imaginable.

The Bug + Warrior Queen + Flowdan
Jul 29, 21:00 @ Zoobizarre.
12$. billets @ .
In Gibson's Neuromancer, when Case & Molly meet the two surviving founders of Zion, there is talk of hearing a "mighty dub" in the Babel of tongues signaling the 'final days'.
If indeed we're living in these ‘end times’, as many predict, then there can be no more of an appropriate soundtrack for the coming apocalypse than The Bug's London Zoo.
The Bug is the main project for Kevin Martin, a producer who over the years has also been behind a diverse range of projects. He is part of Techno Animal / Ice / God (all with Justin Broadrick of Godflesh / Jesu), King Midas Sound, Razor X Productions (with The Rootsman), Pressure and Ladybug, to name a few. Then there is the running of his Pathological Records label, collaborations with noise jazz outfit 16-17, Pete "Sonic Boom" Kemper's E.A.R project, John Zorn, Kevin Shields, El-P & Antipop Consortium. He has recorded for labels as diverse as Virgin, Rephlex, Position Chrome/Mille Plateaux, Word Sound, Hyperdub, City Slang, Tigerbeat 6, Grand Royal, and now Ninja Tune. He has been personally asked to remix Thom Yorke, Grace Jones, Einsturzende Neubauten and Primal Scream, and has compiled jazz & dub compilations for Virgin Records.
The new opus, London Zoo, due for release on Tuesday July 29th across North America, is the fruition of all these activities.
London Zoo definitively situates The Bug as an true innovator, an explorer mining the sound spectrum for the rawest expression of post-millennial tension. The album features collaborations with reggae legend Tippa Irie, Roll Deep alum Flowdan, reggae elder Ricky Ranking, and the powerfully fierce Warrior Queen. Although the obvious entry point to the album will be the Dubstep tag, particularly after the success of the three lead up singles ('Jah War', 'Skeng', and 'Poison Dart' in that scene) it's a record that clearly reaches past and brings together and celebrates reference points from dancehall, grime, hip hop, and noise onslaughts. London Zoo is a record that could have only come out of London soundsystem culture but whose appeal spans beyond any singular city or scene.
Be prepared for the deepest rattle on your psyche, vibrating from your core outwards, as The Bug and Warrior Queen storm the speaker stacks to take you the furthest reaches of Babylon, showing you the path to overcome.
Best start building the Marcus Garvey tug now...
FOR A SNEAK PEEK OF LONDON ZOO, CHECK THE EXCLUSIVE KODE 9 MIX: http://www.zshare.net/audio/149977034ccbb68f/
And shall we add to this great press release: Warrior Queen rules!!!

Six decades into one of songwriting’s most successful and honored careers – marked by 48 Top 10 hits (including; Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Walk On By, Alfie, What The World Needs Now), nine #1 songs, more than 500 compositions and a landmark 50+-year run on the charts, Burt Bacharach’s music continues to set industry records and creative standards. “At This Time”, his 2005 album, which won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album, broke new ground with Bacharach’s first-ever lyrical collaborations, supplementing the melodies which reflect the pioneering Bacharach sound. He says it is the “most-passionate album” of his career as “At This Time” marked the first time Bacharach took on social and political issues in his music.
Bacharach’s
global audiences span several generations, and he is viewed as the
unique
combination of one of the greatest composers of all time and the
ultra-cool
cult hero of the contemporary music set who often has several songs on
various
music charts in many countries simultaneously. His many concerts are
SRO, as he
tours the United States and the world conducting orchestras and with
his own
musicians and singers performing his music. He began 2008 with a tour
of Australia
and Japan, and is booked at many of the United States' most-popular
venues
through the next two years.
The 7th edition of POP Montreal will run from October 1-5, 2008. COME

Keep Falling on My Head, Walk On By, Alfie et What
The World Needs Now,
Meilleur Album Instrumental Pop.
"At This Time" marque le premier moment où Bacharach s'attaque à des
