Interactive “Found Items” Percussion Demo with Liam O'Neill
Liam O'Neill, who drums for acclaimed local bands The Zeroes as well as Silver Starlings (formerly Mothers Fathers) and numerous other brave endeavours, will engage participants in a group drumming exercise on an installation of found items that act as alternative drums and sound-makers. Dynamic and engaging, this demo brings to life items that were previously thought of as junk (such as pots and pans or car parts). By drumming on “junk,” this demo aims to reconceptualize the participant’s relationship to perfected performance and the democratic nature of artistic expression.
Sunday, May 17th - 1:30 - 4:00
Recycled Fashion
A local fashion designer and entrepreneur, Yana Gorbulsky, will lead an event for youth, ages 10-17 on basic techniques for reconstructing and redesigning used clothing. This demonstration will result in the creation of new items of clothing that each participant will be proud to wear. Yana will focus on the possibility and potential for reuse and recycling in stimulating creativity in an eco-friendly way.
