• Open Source Cinema: A how-to of basic video mash-ups & culture jamming with Open Source guru Brett Gaylor
• Songwriting and Recording: Write and record your own sounds with Olga Goreas of The Besnard Lakes and Kara Keith.
• Recycled toys: Learn to alter and reconstruct clothing to create your own stuffed toy, with Angie Johnson of Headquarters Galerie and Boutique
• Ukulele Hour: Anyone can play a tune after mastering three chords! Learn how on the mellow, soothing and often rocking ukulele with your host Krista Muir
• Rawkin' Kazoo Band: Come jam out and buzz along on the world's easiest instrument to play, with Daniel, Brad, and Julia, of Lake of Stew! (held at La Lumière du Mile End, 214 Bernard)
• Fun With Contact Mics: Kitchen Party! In this workshop we'll explore how sound is created and moves around our environments. Using homemade contact mics, a cheap and easy-to-make microphone, we'll explore the sounds and vibrations everyday kitchen objects and utensils can make. Bring one or two things from your kitchen to bang, clang, and scrape in our improv kitchen noise orchestra!
• Craft + Graffiti = Craffitti: Crafting yarn, recycled sweaters and embellishments. Create works of art that can then be affixed to lampposts and fences! (held at La Lumière du Mile End, 214 Bernard)
• Puppet building: Learn the crafty secrets of puppet-making including papier-mache, assemblage, sewing talking muppets, and shadow puppetry with Allison Moore
• Ceramics: Joelle Medina will show you how to create a bowl, cup, clay animals or jewellery with fast drying clay that can then be finished easily at home
• Sculpture: Uncover the sculptor within. Build magnetic sculptures or mobiles
• Felting: How to create a 3-D object out of wool without the use of the needle and thread? This workshop is for beginner felters to learn and understand the basic properties of wool and how we can use this maleable medium to create a vessel.
