Yolande Laroche, a Canadian Taiwanese artist from Gatineau and member of art-rock group Pony Girl, released her first solo record True Beginning with Birthday Cake Records in 2025.
Drawing inspiration from her Mandarin name 兰 (Lan), symbolizing the orchid flower, Yolande crafts a sound that is both intimate and profound. With a background in classical clarinet, Laroche blends her training with avant-pop elements and explores themes of self-discovery, personal growth and healing from a bad breakup through confident electronic pop and heartfelt piano ballads.
