Sidi Blue Moon
Sidi Blue Moon is a sound artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work explores the connection between Afro-Moroccan musical traditions and contemporary sounds. In this project, the artist offers an immersive journey between the past and the future by blending traditional Moroccan music with electronic elements.
At the core of the performance are traditional Afro-Moroccan instruments such as the Guembri, Ribab, Ngouni, and Ghayta. These instruments, deeply rooted in spirituality and rhythm, are played live to create a hypnotic and captivating atmosphere. The aim is to preserve the essence of Gnawa music – deeply linked to trance and meditation – while incorporating modern electronic elements to enrich and intensify the sonic experience.
Sidi Blue Moon’s performance aims to transport the audience into a melodic and rhythmic journey,
where repetitive patterns and subtle textures give rise to a captivating dynamic. This fusion of the ancient and the futuristic invites a sensory exploration that transcends cultural and temporal boundaries, offering a fresh perspective on traditional music while staying true to its essence.
The project highlights the endless possibilities of merging different art forms, while exploring themes of spirituality, movement, and transformation. The interaction between traditional instruments and electronic manipulation creates an immersive experience where the soul of Gnawa music meets the technology of the future.
