POP Montréal presents:
‘From Beneath The Earth‘ [ENG], a short documentary by Sami Alalul (22 min, 2017), followed by music by irl (hybrid) and Badgalquirit (DJ).
From Beneath the Earth is a short documentary highlighting the struggles in life and art of five Palestinian musicians as they grapple with and attempt to transcend politics. It is produced by Mideast Tunes, the online platform promoting underground music from the MENA regions, in collaboration with Palestinian director Sami Alalul. The film features Mahmoud Jrere of acclaimed hip-hop duo DAM, West Bank hip-hop group Saaleek, Maysa Daw, and Haifa singer-songwriter Rasha Nahas.
All money raised will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians the cause of Samar Alkhdour, a committed activist for the Palestinian cause, and to her family in need. More info here.
MAP respond directly to the emergency in Gaza, as well as provide medical supplies, support healthcare services and deliver long term development to healthcare in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
